Food Gallery Catering, a local boutique catering company, is seeking cooks with immediate availability. We are a fast growing, woman owned, Twin Cities based catering company looking for candidates who are:

In catering, each day and week looks a little different. Food Gallery caters events large and small throughout the Twin Cities, at high end event venues, corporate offices, private homes, and beyond - travel to and from these venues, professional presence and conduct while on location, in addition to cooking and plating onsite are requirements for this role.

While cooking experience is a requirement of this role, experience in banquet or off premises catering is a plus but not strictly necessary as we are happy to teach and train. We are looking for candidates with day time availability throughout the week for prep shifts in addition to candidates with evening and weekend availability for off-site event execution. We are offering opportunities for both full and part time positions. Reliable transportation is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Take direction from the sous chef and executive chef, executing any and all duties assigned throughout the course of a shift

  • Daily food prep for upcoming events - this includes organization, communication, labeling, and record keeping to ensure efficient and accurate execution of daily prep lists

  • Onsite cooking and plating at catered events throughout the Twin Cities - this includes traveling to and from events, either riding with the truck or in your own vehicle. Transportation hours and parking are paid.

  • Assist in the development of menu items

  • Maintain high standards in recipe development and execution with an emphasis on great flavors and beautiful presentations

  • Work with the front and back of house teams to create a memorable, high-end experience for guests

  • Maintain good habits - keeping your work station and the kitchen and equipment rooms clean and organized, labeling, putting things back where they belong, communicating with your team, etc.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in culinary arts, cooking, or other related fields

  • Base level knowledge of food cost and utilization to avoid waste, adherence to food safety protocols, and maintenance of food prep and storage areas

  • Knowledge of and a passion for food and cooking techniques

  • Strong leadership qualities - a positive attitude, encouragement and collaboration with others, owning your part, hospitality reflex, high standards and good habits

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project oriented, flexible environment - knowing how to identify needs in the kitchen and being a self-starter when it comes to keeping busy and executing projects at the highest level

  • Must be reliable and trustworthy: display great communication, have reliable transportation to and from work, be a person of your word

  • Well groomed appearance and good hygiene

Food Gallery caters events large and small throughout the Twin Cities, at high end event venues, corporate offices, private homes, and beyond - as a lead cook, you are responsible for not only being a leader amongst your fellow chefs in our home kitchen, but in large part you are responsible for leading off-premise teams in the successful execution of events on location. Your responsibilities include coordinating logistics and travel to and from these venues, representing Food Gallery in a professional manner while on location, and working in seamless tandem with the front of house leadership and team as their primary kitchen contact to ensure great communication and execution of successful events.

Experience being a leader in the kitchen is a must in this role as someone who models all of the high standards and good habits you expect from the other members of your team. We are looking for candidates with at least one year of catering and/or banquet experience, whether that be in an on of off premise setting. We are looking for candidates with day time availability throughout the week for prep shifts in addition to candidates with evening and weekend availability for off-site event execution.   • Daily food prep for upcoming events - this includes organization, communication, labeling, and record keeping to ensure efficient and accurate execution of daily prep lists

  • Onsite cooking and plating at catered events throughout the Twin Cities - this includes driving the catering van or truck to and from events. Transportation hours and parking are paid

  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, including monitoring food storage and rotating supplies

  • Participating in menu development and tastings and providing constructive feedback to improve dishes

  • Maintain high standards in recipe development and execution with an emphasis on great flavors and beautiful presentations

  • Being a hospitality driven leader on the operations team, working closely with the service manager and front-of-house team to ensure a high-end memorable experience for the all guests at every event

  • Leading teams to execute off-premise events: includes organizing the logistics of transporting food to and from events in a safe manor that also ensures the highest quality output, leading a team of cooks in the execution of off-premise events, monitoring for food safety off premise, and completing a detailed chef’s report at the end of each event to communicate to the greater leadership team on details of event execution

  • Maintain good habits - keeping your work station and the kitchen and equipment rooms clean and organized, labeling, putting things back where they belong, communicating with your team, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Previous leadership experience in culinary arts, cooking, or other related fields

  • 1+ years catering and/or banquet experience, preferably in an off-premise setting

  • Knowledge of and a passion for food and cooking techniques

  • Strong leadership qualities - a positive attitude, encouragement and collaboration with others, owning your part, hospitality reflex, high standards and good habits
